Alburquerque really has a reason to boast! The collaboration of Artifex Skatepark Environments and Landscape Architects Morrow Reardon Wilkinson Miller Ltd. have produced a masterpiece. The Artifax team met with the city as well local skate boarders and researched the culture, architecture and skate spots in order to establish a greater vision for the design.

The skate park is comprised of two distinct main areas, the Trenches and the Skylit Bowl. The Trenches is a unique flow area with a mix of banks, ledges, walls, stairs, gaps, and rails in various combinations and arrangements. The Skylit Bowl combines three deep bowls with a pipe that has a large-scale skylight type opening on top (the first of its kind). This area of the park is inspired by the backyard pools that skaters rode in the early years of the sport.

The Alamosa Skatepark Environment is on the leading edge of a new generation of skate parks. Providing a wider variety of skate opportunities in Albaquerque, the Alamosa has a streetscape element which is different from the majority of other existing skate parks in the city. One of the goals of the design was to provide a campus or civic plaza feel to the riders. With no perimeter fence and multiple entry points the park creates unlimited lines of circulation. And once you feast your eyes on the sick state-of-the-art 3/4 quarter full pipe it just may be love at first pipe. Time to get your grind on!
