Elemental Awareness: Apache Junction

By: | Tuesday, May 2, 2006 //

Elemental Awareness just returned from putting on an incredible skate contest on the White River Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona. The largely homemade park on basketball courts got a major facelift from EA volunteer carpenters Chris Beazley and Chris Hughes just in time for the event. The head to head showdown on the Rez was exciting to watch as the kids ripped the place up. Locals watched from the beds of large trucks with the drivers honked enthusiastically as winners were announced.

Standout local skaters included Eric Taylay, Jess Smith, Daniel Natan, Jimmy Ethelbah, and Aloysius Henry. Elemental Awareness also brought a few sponsored ams to rip and chill with the kids, they included Element’s Levi Brown, Black Label’s Jared Hager, and Zoo York’s Jesse Plumb.

The Apache event was a true success in supporting the large roots level skate scene going on The Reservation. We’ll see you out there next year. This event was sponsored by Element Skateboards, Shark Energy Drink, and The Apache Nation.
