I did my teacher trnaiing in Y5 last year if you fancy something dark, creepy and beautifully written Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book is wonderful and my class couldn’t get enough of itAny of the Mr Gum books are great for a bit of fantastic childish sillinessNorthern Lights by Philip Pullman is maybe a bit long for a class book but for more confident Y6 readers it is stunning in its scope and storytelling
