Julien Stranger for Vans Syndicate
Styles: Era Pro “S”, Old Skool Pro “S”
Materials: Suede / Perforated Suede
From his appearance in the cult classic skateboarding film, Sick Boys (1988), a document of the early street skating movement in San Francisco, to his founding of Anti-Hero Skateboards in 1993, and then introducing and upholding the creative tone for which the brand is revered today, Julien Stranger is amongst skateboarding’s most innovative and influential pioneers. Maybe it grew of an effort to travel more lightly on extended skate trips, maybe it was of an aversion to doing laundry on the regs, but either way, at some point along the way, Julien cut socks out of his equation.
For Julien’s first Syndicate collaboration, he reconstructed a couple of his favorite Vans styles, the Era Pro and the Old Skool Pro, for the expressed aim of sockless wearability and comfort for all his fellow anti-sock anti-heroes out there. Featuring perforated suede quarter panels for breathability and Dri-Lex moisture wicking linings in the forefoot with perforated pig skin quarter and heel linings for comfort, the Julien Stranger Era Pro “S” and Old Skool Pro “S” each come with two (2) interchangeable footbed options. The first is Vans UltraCush Lite CMEVA for a more traditional feel and the second option is reversible and washable flat sheet Dri-Lex footbeds for even longer lasting sockless comfort (when at last your footbed becomes too unbearable, simply flip ‘em over for a fresh feel and toss ‘em in the wash whenever the next opportunity arises to begin the whole process anew).
