NEW BOWLRIDERS QUALIFICATION SERIES TO GRANT WILD CARDS FOR THE FINAL EVENT FROM MAY 19-21, 2006.

(Huntington Beach, CA) April 15, 2006 --- Quiksilver, a division of Quiksilver Inc. (www.quiksilver.com) and the world’s leader in boardriding lifestyle and culture, announced that Malmö, Sweden will be the new host city for the Quiksilver Bowlriders 2006, taking place May 19–21, 2006.

After six memorable years in Marseille, Quiksilver has taken the decision to organize this years’ edition of the Bowlriders in Europe’s newest skatepark “Stapelbaddsparken” in Malmö, Sweden.

Malmö (270,000 inhabitants), located in the south of Sweden only 20 minutes away from Copenhagen Denmark is already well known in the skateboarding world for it’s fantastic indoor skatepark ‘Bryggeriet’.

Designed by Stefan Hauser from Oregon (USA) with the help of Malmö city council, ‘Stapelbaddsparken’ is one of Europe’s largest concrete skateparks with 2,500 square meters of surface. ”I'm very happy to be a part of this project. I've been given a lot of freedom. Together with the local skaters, we have created a unique and creative design. This skatepark is one-of-a-kind and skateboarders will travel from around the world just to skate in Malmö," Hauser said.

This year and for the first time ever, Quiksilver will run the Quiksilver Bowlriders Qualification Series throughout Europe, Australia and the USA to discover the best bowlriders and give them a chance to go head-to-head with the world’s best. The winner of each series will win an all expense paid trip to Malmö to compete in the final event with the world’s best invited skateboarders.

About the Quiksilver Bowlriders
Ever since the creation of the Quiksilver Bowlriders in 1999, the concept and format has pulled together the world’s elite of concrete warriors. Following six great years in Marseille, Quiksilver has decided to hold the event in another place of reference in Europe in order to give it a new dimension. Several options were considered but “Stapelbaddsparken” in Malmö was the final choice.
